Old Hawaii wood platter 17 inch beautiful grain blond edge Honolulu flea market

Description

This is a large wooden platter, acquired at a Honolulu flea market many years ago. Wood appears to be koa. It is lathe-turned and has a filled hole on the bottom. Diameter is about 17-1/2 inches. Height is about 1 inch from base to lip, then curved down on the front to about 1/3 inch overall thickness.Top is finished with old shellac or varnish, has some crackle,  was high polished at one point and has marks of use but nothing that goes through the finish. Has a somewhat amateur feel to the lathe base, but the top is lovely, beautifully turned. Unsigned.
