    ~ Estate sale find - matched pair of hand-carved Monkey Pod wood Calabash Bowls by Dan DeLuz when his studio was Hawaiian Handcraft in the 70s. ~ These seem to be a matched pair from the same piece of wood as they both have a gorgeous spot of lighter golden wood in the same position on the side. ~ The larger bowl measures 7 1/4" at its widest diameter and 2 3/4" high. ~ The smaller bowl measures 7" at its widest diameter and 2" high. ~ Each bowl is stamped on the underside: "HAWAIIAN HANDCRAFT Made in Hilo, Hawaii", "MONKEY POD", and "Custom Crafted by Dan De Luz" ~ Both are in excellent vintage condtion with a rich finish and only a few very light scuffs.     A member of Dan's family, who knows his work well, has indicated to me that these are early pieces of his, probably dating before 1970.
    These seem to be a matched pair from the same piece of wood as they both have a gorgeous sunspot of lighter golden wood in the same position on the side.
    The larger bowl measures 7 1/4" at its widest diameter and 2 3/4" high.
    The smaller bowl measures 7" at its widest diameter and 2" high.
